About this listen
New York Times and USA Today best-selling author S.E. Smith presents another adventure- and suspense-filled story to transport listeners out of this world.
River Knight was looking forward to a peaceful vacation in the mountains with her two best friends, Jo and Star, sisters of the heart. When she travels up into the mountains of North Carolina to the cabin Star has rented for them, she is shocked when she finds the two sisters being abducted. Following them, she discovers their abductors are anything but human.
Sneaking aboard the shuttle in an attempt to rescue them, she finds herself on an unplanned vacation to the stars. In a desperate attempt to save Jo and Star, River makes a deal with a group of other aliens who have also been captured: she'll release them if they promise to return the three girls to their home.
Torak Ja Kel Coradon, leader of the House of Kassis and next ruler of the Kassis galaxy, has other plans when he sees the blue-eyed warrior woman - he wants her for himself.
The three women are believed to be the prophesied warriors, sent to join forces to bring peace to the House of Kassis. Worlds collide when the male-dominated world meets three circus performers who use their talents to fight for those they love. When an assassin threatens Torak's life, River has to show him even a circus performer can be a warrior when challenged. But the biggest challenge is to Torak's mind, as he discovers women from other galaxies are more than they seem.
Can their love overcome the chasm of a few million light years, or will an assassin end it all?

S e Smith has done it again, another amazing series that enthrals and bewitched you and makes you wish for the stars :) this book is fascinating, compelling and addictive. The narrator Samantha Cook is excellent in her narrative, she makes the characters comes to life and captures and immersed you in the story, thank you. xx

I just love this series.
I have to listen to this at 1.25 speed or it seems to be dragging. I just love this series and love listening whilst doing housework or driving. UPDATE. Having listened to this again after listening to Madas’s Falling Star, I really love and totally enjoy having Madas in this and how she reacts and interacts with the women. BOOK REVIEW Read this book you will not be disappointed. You will be rushing to get the others in this series. Three women who can kick butt and laugh about it have just made my day. Loved their upbringing. I loved River, Star and Jo and this book was one of the best reads I have had in ages. So much happens I cannot tell you in a review as it goes in many directions. Whilst this book focuses on River and Torak we have the others all weaving through it. If you like amazing capable women kicking alien butt and finding their HEA's with hot hunky alien shifters whilst fighting a background battle this book is for you. This book ties in with Ms Smith’s alien world.

Ruined by a bad narrator
I may finish this book in the Kindle version, as I can’t listen to this dreadful narrator any longer (I made it to an hour and a half before quitting).
Ms Cook sound bored to tears, never changing her rather robotic rendition of the story. Whether the heroine is taking a gentle drive in the country, being abducted or swooning over the gorgeous (cliche and boring!)hero, Ms Cook never bothers to change the pitch, speed, volume, or any other thing that we do in normal speech. She may as well be reading a grocery list.
As for the story, it seems OK if very formulaic, so far, although everyone is too perfect and talented to be interesting characters. Add in the Insta-love and lack of any trace of humour and it looses another star.
