Great book for all levels of relationships

Thanks Karen, I must admit that I did not expect to get so much knowledge from your book. I would really recommend this book to all men who seek to better their relationships with ALL the women in their lives. Cheers

Important, yet dangerous book for modern day men

This is a very rare book that celebrates masculinity in an honest and hopeful way, while making no excuses for men.

In the light of the #metoo movement, we men, we conscious men, need to acknowledge the harm that we as a whole, and as an individual, are capable of. Women, not all of them, but very many of them are slowly but surely losing hope in us. And truth is, I can't argue with them. If I were in their shoes, I might feel the same way too.

In our current state where harmful masculinity is talked about and highlighted in abundance, what example do we men have to follow to lead us in the right direction? In "Open Her" Karen shares her deep love and her hope for our masculinity.

This book has given me permission to appreciate my own masculinity again. I believe it has the potential to help renew our sense of direction as men in our modern world, to help us develop the loving masculinity that our world sorely lacks.

With all of this said I do have to say this book also feels somewhat dangerous. For 2 reasons.
1. The language in this book feels a little outdated, and I believe could be updated with some modern day sensibility. The first 3 or so chapters of this book has a very slight air of..... "men should be men, and men should not be vulnerable in the same way that is allowed for women". At least to me that's how it reads. However I am very glad that I pushed pass some of the more outdated parts, as the rest of this book offers beautiful teaching for men.
2. For a man who still wants to make excuses for himself and uses self development as just another tool to get sex from women, this book may only further inflate their ego and "good guy" persona.

For these 2 reasons, I would only recommend this book for those with a well developed and well challenged sense of self awareness, and an internal compass that aligns with genuine love for others.

Brilliant book!!

Thus book illuminated many areas in which I can bring more strength, depth, openness, vibrancy and authenticity in the realm of romantic love, intimacy and sexuality. It's very well structured, clear and uplifting. Highly recommended!!

Step up and be my best

That’s what this book is inviting me to do. To be my best and activate all these different parts of myself to better my relationship with women. It’s the inside guide for all that women want in a men... with real life examples and practical exercises to make it happen. Very similar to the work of David Deida. Recommend 100%.

worthwhile for sure

The stories are worthwhile to listen to and relate to. The goals are all worthwhile. I was sceptical about getting advice from a woman but I guess it makes sense if our goal is more connection from women which is only one part of being a man. but this book covers it quite well and the audio book reader is superb!

I might update this review once I go through it again but there was enough I got from the first pass which landed well enough for me to see value in it.

So bad its insulting

I went back to it try to read again a few times. Honestly, it really is awful. What I read was nothing more than superficial ideas dressed up as generalized truth. And the attempt at a female "voice of God" does not lend the words any weight.

Exhausting!

This was a totally exhausting and emotionally draining read. I agree that if the described archetypes were played out with sincerity and authenticity it would result in opening up any women. Mission accomplished.
I understand that it’s written from the perspective of what a man should do but it assumes the woman is an empty vessel ready to receive. If a woman played those archetypes to me I’d also feel what the woman would feel. This book misses what a woman should bring to feel loved, alive, appreciated, sexy, etc. maybe in the next book
