About this listen
How does a bad day get worse, you ask? Well...
How about being squished between two huge, naked dudes with their meaty schlongs hanging out and everything?
It's all a matter of opinion, but Carter's day is going pretty badly. He's an engineer captured by bug aliens, now depending on his large, muscled, naked cage mates for food and warmth. They seem sentient, so that's good. But they're also handsy. Which is...complicated.
The military isn't looking for him. Slaves taken by the bug race never come back. Yet, Carter is very much alive, and if he wants to stay that way, he'll need to trust Pykh and Siel, two affectionate aliens with claws, teeth, and size.
Contains mature themes.

This first book builds the world and introduces us to an environment and a couple of alien species that become human Carter's home. This book is engaging, fascinating, sometimes scary and always magnificent. The audio by Joel Leslie is simply excellent and not to be missed.

Now I know why people rave about this!
People rave about this series so I was keen to see for myself. Carter is a captive human space engineer, caged with Pyke and Siel, two large local aliens with fur and porcupine quills, all enslaved by an merciless insectoid race. Siel explains to Pyke that Carter is an Omega, highly revered in their culture, and the two make it their mission to nurture and protect him. The insects have an excruciating death planned for Carter if he can’t escape and things look pretty hopeless. I was quite surprised by this sci-fi romance, there’s a lot of pathos for Pyke and Siel and we spend a lot of time in their heads. Pyke was born in captivity and accepts it, knowing nothing else, whereas Siel was once a proud warrior who chafes at being brought so low and considers taking his own life daily. Despite his cage mates, Carter is quite isolated; he doesn’t speak any of the alien languages or understand their customs. It was hard at first to know who he was referring to because he made up his own alien nicknames (Pyke - Nibbler; Siel - Lefty / Pitcher). In every other ABO book I’ve encountered, omegas are always low on the pecking order, so it was really refreshing that Carter was respected and his non-verbal communications were obeyed. Audio narrator Joel Leslie used his own American accent for Carter and cockney British accents for Pyke and Siel - it was odd but it worked. I’m really looking forward to other books in the series!

Entertaining
Audio/ebook review
What the heck did I just read, and why the heck did I enjoy it so much.
I didn't really know what this book was about, however watching a friends audible updates on Facebook made me curious.
And I am glad that I decided to read this.
In its parts, this book shouldn't be good. Space cats, aliens, kink between the two. Nope, this shouldn't work.
But it does, and it does it well.
Amusing, entertaining and just a whole lot of "this doesn't make sense" had me extending my walks so I could listen to just one more chapter. I ran out of time to listen yesterday, so I laid on the couch and read the last 25% instead, as I needed to know what would happen.
I loved the narration (don't I always when it is Joel?)
Now I have a dilemma, do I start book 2 now, or wait until book 3 is out?
