Pretty much more enjoyable in audible.
I actually understood Reid’s actions, thinking and behaviour more in audible and loved Evelyn.
Reid acts in a completely honourable way, though with his usual attitude.

BOOK REVIEW
Reid’s is a difficult story to tell after his past rotten behaviour. This review contains SPOILERS.
I still don’t like Reid but he is now tolerable.
You will have to read the series to understand any of this so sorry in advance but it is well worth reading.
At the end of book 3 (Roaring Up The Wrong Tree) I really detested Reid. He had acted despicably even if it was suitable and acceptable revenge. I thought he was dishonourable in the way he acted. You don’t just go punishing and hurting everyone in a family line because of one ratbag in the family. He should have done his homework and found out Trista had suffered as badly as he and his mother had. He knew his Beta Morgan had been killing indiscriminately but had not controlled him.
He does apologise in book 4 (LOVE AT FIRST ROAR) and some more of his history is told to us and we come to understand more of his past and how convoluted fate is, a half-sister he did not know about that he would have had to kill to fulfil his wishes of ending a man’s bloodline. Fate plays strange tricks on people. Reid is still cold and deadly with anger management issues, but maybe slightly redeemed.
Now onto book 5. Reid and Evelyn.
Reid is a dichotomy. There is no other word to fit him.
In this book I think Celia tried to explain why Reid was the way he was, unbalanced and just plain crazy.
But he wasn’t really crazy, he was really just super intelligent, mad at the world and totally uncaring of others or their opinions.
He saw things in black and white, kill the bad guys and stop any evil from continuing. Not such a bad thing you would think, but shades of grey are always to be taken into account. I understand his dad was a sadistic horror who also killed his mother in front of him when he was a child but there was not enough background to make you accept the way he was. A bit more of Reid’s past would have made his actions in the past more acceptable and helped to make him the hero he was supposed to be.
Evelyn was a good heroine, the right mate for Reid certainly, she seemed to be strong, suffering torture and being defiant. She was very new to this clan and was the only one brave enough to stand up and ask for help. Against her own family. Not sure I would want to be in that clan, they seemed to all be weak, not all of them can be that beaten down.
She saw in Reid what nobody else did. Their connection could have been strengthened with him telling Evelyn more of his past and not just about his childhood. She knew nothing about his past interaction and bad behaviour with his NEW family, the Abrams. He could have exonerated himself by admitting he was an arse and had behaved badly and hurt innocent people when he was pointing out everyone to Evelyn at the end of the book. It would have helped his case tremendously.
It was going to take a very strong, complicated story to really exonerate Reid for his terrible past transgressions and make him acceptable and while this was a great book on its own and enjoyable, having followed the series it did not deliver as it should have. I would say this is my least favourite book of this series. I found it hypocritical that he states “NO ONE NEEDS TO KNOW ABOUT CONNECTIONS TO TREAT SOMEONE DECENTLY. TO NOT SCAR ‘EM FOR NO REASON, TO TORTURE THEM.” I refer back to books 3 & 4.
Reid seems more friendly and balanced with Evelyn by his side and I have hope that Reid can continue to make good reparation on his past behaviour He did improve in expressing his feeling toward Evelyn, even if it was only in his and his wolfs mind.
I read this series a while ago but the author recently asked for reviews to be published and as I love Celia Kyle’s work it was no hardship to reread this series. Glad Celia asked me, I had forgotten how good they are. I had already written a review for this book but have revised it to this one having read this series again.

6 - BARED TO THE BEAR was SUNDAY BEAR-BECUE
Oh my goodness. I nearly had a panic attack reading this when everything happened but I should have known we were being teased.
What a fun short story that enabled us to catch up with everyone in Grayslake again.
Rather than it being mainly about Mia and Ty, I really would have loved more story and interaction with everyone else who was there, we really only had snippets but that was still enjoyable.
This is my honest review of this book.
