I "Hedens sønner" fortsætter handlingen til 2018, og sammen med børnene flytter en del af handlingen til Esbjerg. Hanne Faldborg er forfatter, coach, foredragsholder og tv-anmelder. Hun er landmandsdatter fra Vestjylland, men har også en lang karriere bag sig i erhvervslivet. Begge dele kommer til udtryk i hendes bøger, som spænder over genrerne biografi, roman og samfundsværker.
