About this listen

Tuk-Palteia Liam has survived the front lines of a civil war and a return visit to his home planet, but now he has to face the ultimate obstacle. Stubborn lovers.

As long as Liam and Ondry have the same goals - the pursuit of profits and status - they are the perfect partnership. But now Ondry wants to protect his palteia at any cost, even if it costs him his newly won rank. Liam hates the idea of Ondry sacrificing for him, and he is not going to allow Ondry to lose status under any circumstances. Add in the Imshee, a predatory companion animal, a new human, and an obstinate Grandmother, and Liam has the recipe for a serious headache. Despite what Ondry believes, not all problems can be solved with a good trade, a tail, or a flash of tooth. This time, Liam and Ondry are going to need to find a compromise.

Contains mature themes.

More please!

In this series final, Liam and Ondry approach the Imshee to alter Liam’s genetics so he can live as long as Ondry; however, things don’t go smoothly. It’s always hard to finish a series, there’s a lot of anticipation and expectation to meet, and with sci-fi, there’s literally no limit to the direction a plot can go. In show biz, you’re meant to leave your audience wanting more - the flip side question is have you left them with enough? So positives: I loved more of the now very familiar interactions between Liam & Ondry; I loved the inclusion of Palteia Zac in teasing out Rownt / human relations; and the dog was a cute touch. This is the more I wanted: I was hoping for more Imshee interaction, especially in relation to the genetic stuff; I was secretly hoping for interactions with the other races mentioned; and I secretly hoped to see Liam and Ondry play a part in raising Ondry’s offspring. I felt things got tidied up pretty quickly at the end and we missed out on some potentially meaty, satisfying scenes. Overall, my wild hopes don’t diminish a fabulous series and it’s one I’ll revisit again and again. 🎧 John Solo has certificates of excellence from many grandmothers and I was super-impressed by his Imshee voice!
