About this listen
A straight man walks into a gay bar searching for meaning…It sounds like the start of a lousy joke.
And honestly, that’s what my life is beginning to feel like.
I look back at all the hateful things I’ve said and done—so many things I can’t take back—and I’m not proud. I let my ignorance steal my relationship with my youngest brother, Magnus. He and his husband, Sem, are now happily married with kids, and all I want is to be a part of their lives.
But I need help to get there.
Help in the form of a sweet man so open-hearted and optimistic that he’s willing to take on and teach a lost cause like me.
Because I don’t know if people are truly capable of change. But the way Beau looks at me with his pretty eyes and cheeky smile, the way he openly shows me friendship, love, and affection…he sure makes me wonder, if a person can change, can they also earn forgiveness?

Story of Max and Beau
This is a spinoff from Cora Rose’s book titled Sem.
Max, is the brother of Marcus. Max is trying to redeem himself after the way he treated his brother and lost him. The book starts with Max going to a gay bar to prove to himself he can change and accept everyone for who they are, in order to takes steps to try and rebuild his relationship with his brother. While Max is in the club, he meets Beau, an out and proud gay man, who is happy to teach Max about his life.
They form a friendship that eventually turns into more. Max has a lot of internal homophobia to battle through but his attraction to the beautiful Beau and their relationship helps him break through those walls.
It’s a great read. You don’t have to read Sem first but it could help fill in some blanks.
Fav PG quote: “Stop flattering me. We might suddenly end up married.” “I could think of worse fates.

Except You
Whew, Cora did it again. Sweet, sexy, and soooo spicy.
When I first heard this was about Max, Maggie’s homophobic brother from ‘Sem’ I was like, no, we hate Max! Turns out, we don’t.
This is a redemption story. Max finds his way to understanding his brother with the help of gorgeous Beau (Beau-tie, swoon) he finds something he was never looking for, and the strength to hold on to it.
It’s hot, it’s sexy, but ultimately, it’s a story of understanding that love really is for anyone, and that life is too short for hate.
It’s a great first book in the ‘Our Exception’ series, and I’m looking forward to more.
