La verdad es que Lawrence en esta novela simbolizo en Lord Chatterley a todo el imperio britanico, paralizado e impotente, mientras que su esposa, ante la incapacidad del marido encontraba en un hombre de la clase media una alternativa. Los simbolos eran demasiado obvios para que Lawrence fuera perdonado y solo la labor de la justicia, que declaro que se trataba de una obra de grandes meritos literarios, logro acabar con las prohibiciones.
