About this listen
Every story petitions with blood, the restless soul of its reader. Sergei Vladovich Ruskaia, sometimes monk, sometimes lusty paramour, forever deep and brooding, is thrust headlong into a world of perpetual darkness, by his hypnotic libidinous Maker.
Engaging and hauntingly erotic, Ebon Chronicles is a sanguine kiss of sensual beauty. A poetic odyssey that reawakens both a fear and adoration for the somber night. An epic vampire saga straddling cosmos and centuries, fraught with love and tragic loss, it reminds us that, however enticing, immortality is both a sweet and bitter wine...

A delicious word-feast for the Vampire library
Ebon Chronicles Book I by T H Savaht came highly recommended, and as I enjoy being read to, I decided on the audiobook edition. To hear a story read by the author adds a wonderful layer of depth into the voice of the characters, and conveys so much more, I’m really glad I chose this edition. With this introduction to Ebon Chronicles, T H Savaht builds upon the classic genre of Vampire Literature, placing us comfortably in a shadow-world with familiar histoire references; lovers of Lestat will instantly feel at home in the Ebon Otherworld, leading us back reassuringly into that established territory, etiquette and parlance, places and time periods. As we begin our journey with the narrator Sergei, a youthful almost 700 year-old Vampire, who charts a course into the redemptive spiritual alchemy of ‘one who has been changed’, showing clearly there is a spectrum of the undeathly experience, not a good-evil simplistic dichotomy. Sergei is a complex character, openly vulnerable and honest about the paradox of being other, he is a Vampire with an ethical and moral code, you may say Chivalric; one who struggles to challenge and upturn stereotypes on his journey, meeting characters of both kindness and hatred. Sergei is clearly walking an alchemical and spiritual path, seeking out the deeper questions of life/un-death and actual death, as he navigates the passage of time. Sergei is also a passionate being, deeply in tune with his sensuous physicality, and all though he has no heartbeat, still embodies the archetype of The Lover, perhaps more freely than those he encounters in the land of the living. Sensual body-worship features throughout, as Sergei is completely free to inhabit the earth without consequences, save those limitations he places upon himself in terms of his honour code, which feels refreshingly redemptive for a human, let alone a vampire. I love the first of these Chronicles and I’m eagerly awaiting the next edition. Ebon Chronicles, Book I is a sensual, spiritual and redemptive Vampire story and a welcome addition to my library.
