Publisher's Summary
I broke the rules. I left, I killed, I loved it.
Deanna Madden locked herself away for three years. She never left the apartment. Never allowed herself contact with another human being. Tried to stop herself acting out her homicidal urges....
Now, recently reacquainted with the outside world, Deanna is working out a new balance between her work on the sex cams and her life outside the walls of 6E.
But her equilibrium is about to be shattered as violence and evil begin to close in....

Damn, she's good
I love A.R. Torre. I don't know her, but her writing makes me wish I did.
Another goddamn great book.
SPOILERS:
(I mean it, don't keep reading if you haven't listened to the book, for the love of Dog...)
I had some issues.
The voice actor was flat in this book compared to the last. I don't know if she was sick, but it was like a soda can left open and the bubbles dissipated, which was noticeable moving from book 1 to book 2. She was great, perfect for Deanna, but too sleepy for such an intense tale. Too many pickups too, distracting.
Story-wise, A.R. says at the end she was going to leave Mike finger-free and Jeremy dead. And she should have.
But she played God and let everyone off the hook (except el creepo rapist).
And it harmed the book, because the story told her to go there and then she chickened out. And everyone was so happily-ever-after it was like being in a dream sequence where Deanna lost her mind and none of it was really real.
I also am noting an issue with A.R.'s action. The fight scenes are tame, short, very one-sided. A good fight has perpetual shifting of the upper-hand, fight scenes based off a structure of beats. These lack. Deanna gets out of danger pretty easy. We don't fear for her like we need to.
And the fights themselves... something goes awry in the physicality, the staging. I struggle to see the space, the bodies, the angles, and then the dynamics of motion, as if the author is either not fully visualising the moment, or is but isn't translating it to us on the page.
Plus there's logistics amiss, like Mike being able to watch Deanna in the apartment on the webcam, when the cams seem to have no range of motion to see into her apartment proper past the faux boudoir.
And character-wise, Jeremy got no development. Just repetition of Deanna articulating her thirsts.
Oh, and she has zero self-consciousness?
I hate to admit how much I relate to Deanna's mindset, whether she's meant to be widely relatable or niche I can't tell you (I'm clearly not a normal girl either), but she's perfectly hotly perfect and has no body issues. I have never met one woman sans body issues.
Yes, a lot of nit-picking. Deanna had more trouble dumping Marcus's body than she had in killing him. Both books lacked satisfaction - Deanna got hers, we were left wanting.
A house exploded in a chemical fire and Jeremy was just peachy, no mention of raw eyelids naked of eyelashes.
Kill your darlings, or don't start the oven timer. Or make the stakes really real by having impact from each impact.
Nothing can be changed, these books are years-old now and I'm a snail happily finding and devouring them like a catalogue.
A.R. Torre is a fantastic writer and thinker, I admire her, and all I've said is stuff I'd have said to a fellow classmate in my writing course when they're workshopping. I wish I could write this bloody good. I do think she can be a better writer and needs to address these flaws. They'd kick her up a notch higher of writer badassery.
I still want to read everything she's written and wish I knew all her pen-names.
If you read this, A.R., keep 'em coming. I need morrrrrrre. x

Need More!
I wasn't expecting a second book but I'm glad there is. I am so happy to hear about the author announcing that there will be more series!! Thank You A.R.Torre!!
I love Deanna Madden's character...she may work on a webcam sex site but at least she isn't stupid and being unsafe. Also, without leaving her apartment for so long she is rich! (its sorta shocking, but when you think about it, it isn't)
Besides that, most people think that just cos she works as a sex performer on her webcam that she is stupid or ignorant when actually she isn't, rather she is the total opposite. Oddly, I love the sick side to her mind.
I would love to know more about Deanna & Jeremy's on going relationship. I want to see their possible future. And I want to know how did Jeremy took it when Deanna explains to him about her urges...
I am so excited and can't wait for more!!

The twists and turns continue. Love it. She did it. Thought he could have suffered more due to what he did but, hey he got some punishment.

Netflix, this is your next winning series
This book series is addictive. It’s a shame it’s in the erotic section. It’s more thriller with no filler.
The main character is the 2018 heroine we all need in our back pocket at times. Dexter has met his match. Thank your A.R. Torre for creating such a brilliant character, story line and written with such wit and strength.
