Jonas swallowed. “Okay. No problem. What are we still doing here in this apartment? Let us go get your gift.” They both left the building and flagged down a taxi.
“Where to?” the driver asked after they had settled themselves in the seat behind. Jonas turned to her. “Well? You are the one leading the way, Shirley. Where are we going to?”
“Do you know the mall on Everest Street?”
“Yeah,” the driver nodded.
“Please take us there. I need to get somethings quickly.”
“Quickly?” the driver repeated.
“Yes,” Shirley nodded. “I need to get them and hurry back home with them.”
“I see. In other words, you would want me to wait for you?”
“Yes. Exactly. I would be delighted if you can wait for us to do the shopping and then take us back.”
“You know I charge by the minute,” the driver said as he drove into the traffic.
“We wouldn’t be long at all. Just a few items and then we are done,” Shirley assured.
“Are you sure?” Jonas asked.
“Yes. I already know the gift that I want for this Valentine’s Day. It’s just for us to go into one of the boutiques there and pick them and then we are on our way.”
“Back home?” Jonas asked.
“Yes. We would come back home once I finish with the shopping.”
