About this listen
Fans of #1 New York Times bestselling author Lora Leigh’s scorching Breed series first met Cassie as a little girl in Elizabeth’s Wolf. Now Cassie has finally come into her own as a young woman, and she’s about to discover the one she is destined for—but it is unclear whether her fate is to be mated for life, or marked for death…
The Breeds are humans altered before conception with the DNA of the predators of Earth. But although they all carry the genetic material of beasts within them, Cassandra Sinclair stands apart. A unique mix of wolf, coyote, and human, she is revered by many—but preyed upon by others. She is fiercely protected by her community...but no one manages to stop her when she slips away one day to offer her body in exchange for her sister’s safety.
The man she succumbs to surprises her by unleashing her inner animal in ways she never dreamed possible—and provokes her deep, furious rage. To Cassie’s shock, he is the mate she has long awaited. She may never be able to forgive his deception. Still, as dangerous enemies track her, and as the threat of all-out war between Breeds and the humans who despise them hovers in the air, they must join forces and hold fast to each other.
But the passionate union between them holds a potential that could change the world—and some will do anything to stop it....

Brilliant
Cassie Sinclair is a half Breed, half coyote and half wolf and has lived her life largely on the outside of her family because the wolves hate and distrust her but things are about to come to a head and her mate is about to come out of the shadows. The story is full of action, betrayal, love and some very nasty people intent on getting their way and those with plans to get those people even at the cost of Cassie. She will have to trust those who haven’t betrayed her in order to survive what is to come namely the cat and coyote Breeds but even then survival isn’t guaranteed. A message to Lora Leigh please return to this series I want to know what happens with Dane, Emma, Ashley, Mutt, Brimstone, Lobo, Mongrel and all the others but especially Dane.

Still not a fan of this narrator for this series.
AUDIBLE REVIEW
Still not a fan of this narrator for this series.
But saying that, I still love the story itself.
Really wish Dog had apologised/grovelled more.
But him seeing Cassie's ghosts at the end, heart warming and heart breaking.
BOOK REVIEW
Worth the wait but had a major flaw. The dedication ruins the surprise of who Cassie's mate is.
I had reread the previous three books before reading this to refresh my memory.
I purposely stayed away from any type of review until I had the time to sit and enjoy this book as I wanted Cassie’s mate to be a surprise.
Having worked so hard to keep Cassie’s mate a secret, even managing it into the first few chapters of this book, I was annoyed to have who Cassie’s mate was, told to me by Ms Leigh herself, before even starting to read. I must have sat for a good minute going I DON’T BELIEVE IT. Then to have his identity hidden for those first few chapters was like salt in a would.
THIS IS DUE TO THE DEDICATION IN THE FRONT OF THE BOOK TO CHRISTINA. NOT CLEVER AND VERY AGGRAVATING.
The expectations for this long anticipated book have been set so high as to be unattainable. Ms Leigh proves how good she is and how much she appreciates her fans, by delivering not only what her fans wanted and needed but she has done it in such a way as to create a brilliant Breeds story.
We are still learning so much about these wonderful creations and Ms Leigh gives us some more reasons to love them.
The general depravity of the Genetics Council is still abhorrent with their latest acts, well, there is a special place in hell for those twelve.
And the wonderful surprise with both of our two main characters being something more than just hybrids was astounding.
So little has been known about Dog for ages but he has always had a soft spot in my heart and I believed there was more to him than we were allowed to see. This book truly brings him into his own and I loved how his parents, especially his mother, have played a pivotal role for Cassie since she was a child.
I also think Dog did not grovel enough after what he did to Cassie and she should have taken a leaf out of Ashley’s rulebook and cut something off.
Love the set up for the next book.
This book does allow a newcomer to the series to enjoy it but it means so much more if you have followed on from the beginning of this series.
So, in summation.
Was so engrossed I had finished it before I knew it. Wonderful to have so many of the others join in this book. The ending was a tear jerker when his parents visited. A great story and addition to the Breeds but is HUGELY let down by the naming of her mate before one starts to read. BIG spoiler for me.
The attitude towards Cassie from some of the wolf breeds was not explained well enough. This is a woman who has fought for their rights all of her life and they treat her with distrust and contempt.
Dog didn’t grovel enough after the HELL he put Cassie through.

Disappointed
I was looking forward to Cassie’s story but was disappointed. It was boring with not much story line. There were long winded sex scenes without much story between. There was no suspense or action, a couple of times I completely stopped listening Ho hum
