Editorial reviews

The extreme irony of the title of Paula Bel's comedy album is evident from the first line of her live stand-up set, when she apologizes for being late with the excuse that she was engaging in a lewd act with the bartender backstage. Bel proceeds to angrily denounce her gay neighbors, the aging process, Hollywood, Alcoholics Anonymous, and the entertainment industry. All of her jokes seem to back up her statement that she "might've been a trucker in a past life". This is humor for the strong of heart. The hard-drinking and hilarious Bel does not censor herself or hesitate to commit fully to a joke, no matter how edgy.
