Publisher's Summary
The sorcerer Alder fears sleep. The dead are pulling him to them at night. Through him they may free themselves and invade Earthsea.
Alder seeks advice from Ged, once Archmage. Ged tells him to go to Tenar, Tehanu, and the young king at Havnor. They are joined by amber-eyed Irian, a fierce dragon able to assume the shape of a woman.
The threat can be confronted only in the Immanent Grove on Roke, the holiest place in the world, and there the king, hero, sage, wizard, and dragon make a last stand.
In this final book of the Earthsea Cycle, Le Guin combines her magical fantasy with a profoundly human, earthly, humble touch.

A great conclusion to the series. Le Guin once more explores with tenderness the themes of death, grief, and the complex relationship humans have with both. I loved it.

slow but beautiful
A decades long wait for this finale and it is so fitting. The world is broken to be made whole.

Good but rushed ending to the Earthsea story
The ending did seem to come in a great rush after was seemed like a long preamble. There was also a noticeable difference in tone between the original trilogy and the two new books. That said, I was still engaged by the characters. The one irritant was the inconsistency of name pronunciation by the performer. The name Irion was pronounced two different ways - sometimes differently in adjacent sentences.

The narrator kept saying words wrong?
I love this book and the narrator was ok, but he kept mispronouncing words and it was super weird. He’d flip flop between pronouncing Irian as Eye-ryan and Eereean, at one point he says wind key as wine-d, like wind up a watch? Kind of bizarre and took me out of it a bit.

Alright
The narrator was very slow but otherwise good.
The first half of the book was very, very boring, but the second half picked up - in typical Le Guin style.

Lackluster with narration issues
I've loved Star Trek since a kid and with Riker being my favourite character, the Titan books have been very dear to my heart. David Mack's books are generally some of the best Star Trek fiction available so when I saw this book available I didn't hesitate to grab it. Fortunately, I only used my credit and not paid for it separately because it's been one let down after another.
The story is extremely predictable and lacks intrigue or any sort of twist and turns. Also the storyline runs way too fast without any real substance or exposition. It feels like David is tired of writing for Star Trek and has lost his passion.
To make matters worse, the performance of the narrator is jarring at times with poor choices of character voicings. There are also multiple times when words are mispronounced and it's not an accident as every time that word comes up again, the narrator mispronounces the word again and again. Really lowers the overall quality and value of this audio book.
