Story
Well hello to you dear audiobook browser. Now I have your attention it would be rude if I didn't tell you a little about my literary feast. So, here is the thing: is it just me or does anyone else find that adulthood offers no refuge from the unexpected horrors, peculiar lack of physical coordination and sometimes unexplained nudity, that accompanied childhood and adolescence? I am proud to say I have a wealth of awkward experiences - from school days to life as an office temp - and here I offer my 18-year-old self (and I hope you, too, dear listener) some much needed caution and guidance on how to navigate life's rocky path.

Where do comedians come from? Why is it that one person is a funny bloke down the pub while another actually makes a living by standing up in front of an audience telling jokes? And where does all that material come from? Well, young Lee McKillop used to wonder that too. Growing up in his parents’ pub, small and wiry in a world of bigger and chunkier specimens, Lee quickly learned that cracking jokes was a way to get attention.

But life hasn't always been a bundle of laughs. Urzila talks candidly about her childhood with a great family, apart from her abusive dad, and about growing up in South Africa.

Story
David Mitchell’s 2014 best seller Thinking About It Only Makes It Worse must really have made people think - because everything’s got worse. We’ve gone from UKIP surge to Brexit shambles, from horsemeat in lasagne to Donald Trump in the White House, from Woolworths going under to all the other shops going under. It’s probably socially irresponsible even to try to cheer up.

ANNOYING in the extreme!!!
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
Whilst Sarah is funny on TV and does say some amusing things in this book, there is a constant fake laugh track and the scenes are staged as if they are spontaneous interactions when it becomes VERY clear they are all prewritten.
Had to stop listening as it was so very, VERY annoying.
MOST disappointing and I found she must think all listeners are idiots.
Would you ever listen to anything by Sarah Millican again?
Not unless it was a straight book and not a pretend performance.
You didn’t love this book--but did it have any redeeming qualities?
She did say some whimsical, comedic things but the enjoyability of these was eclipsed but the fake performances and annoying and repetitive laugh track.
