Story
I never expected to have to uproot my family to go live in my parents’ isolated cottage on Lost Lake. It’s twenty miles to the nearest town, an insignificant speck in endless pine forests. Nobody’s lived here for a decade. Now, I pick up a rusty pail from its nest of autumn leaves and turn to my daughter. Suddenly, I recall how I used to help my own mother pick wild strawberries up here as a little girl. Maybe, this isn’t a punishment. Maybe this place will be the making of our family.

A Vicarage Renunion
I absolutely hate coming into a series and not having read the first book but I’m happy to say I didn’t realise until well into the book that this wasn’t the first book in the series, it was so subtle. Having said that, I found this book verging on the point of almost boring. I am glad I decided to persevere (or go back to because my personality doesn’t allow me to leave a book unfinished) and listen to the end. Had some good relationship themes which I found insightful. I have downloaded the other two books but given my struggling continued interest I’m unsure as to whether I’d listen. There are other books that would have priority over them….

Loving this whole series.
Lovely characters that reflect daily life & it’s challenges but written so beautifully & the setting of a quaint English village surrounded by village life is perfect, the characters develop & grow & you are quickly immersed in their life. Highly recommend.

Intimacy explained for simpletons like me
I wonder how many relationships could be saved if we could all learn to be as honest and vulnerable with each other as this couple. The reward would be the real love, happiness and intimacy we chase in so many other destructive vices.
Hannah Curtis gives life to each character as she expertly narrates the book in perfect voice, gender, age and emorion.

Not your typical love story.
What happens when you loose yourself and you don’t know where to go, what to do or how to tackle the internal turmoil of life. A refreshing reminder of what is most important in life.

I couldn’t wait to listen to another story about the Holly Sisters.
This is another piece of the Holly puzzle and whilst I enjoyed it at the same time I was unhappy about the separation. Of course that’s personal and in no way is it meant to discredit the writer who always seems to be spot on with her research. And then there’s the HEAfter which is pleasant and a nice reward for the reader/listener after delving into the whys and wherefores earlier on in the story.
