By 'eck it were good
The author is a legend and this is more evidence of their greatness. The narrator has done a spectacular job of bringing the story to life ....and the story, well, I think you should give it a listen.

Val McDermid at her best!
As I read each book by Val, I become more enthralled within the stories she creates. This one was such a believable tale as you see how life would be inside such small villages made up of intertwined families.

A Place of Execution
Another wonderful book by Val McDermid enhanced by the narration of Paddy Glynn. This book has all the hallmarks of excellence we expect from Val McDermid but the twists and turns give no clue as to the bone shaking finale. Highly recommended and why isn’t it a movie????

Annoying
This was a confusing book which I generally disliked yet had to finish. The story was quite convoluted and central character, while morally upright was not easy to like or warm to. The story structure over so many years, was sometimes difficult to sort out and at times just to implausible.
Try it..but it never really hooks you!

Legal knowledge desert
Absolutely no understanding of very basic trial and or police procedure leads to silly plot.
