Clare Bowditch has always had a knack for telling stories. Through her music and performing, this beloved Australian artist has touched hundreds of thousands of lives. But what of the stories she used to tell herself? That 'real life' begins only once you're thin or beautiful, that good things happen only to other people. Your Own Kind of Girl reveals a childhood punctuated by grief, anxiety and compulsion and tells how these forces shaped Clare's life for better and for worse. This is a heartbreaking, wise and at times playful memoir.

A mellow, rich story - excellent narration
Another very enjoyable audiobook, covering many familiar themes with humor and sensitivity. I liked the Australian "vibe" and descriptions of Sydney, the beaches, the environs.
I have awarded 5 stars for the narration, despite his inability to correctly pronounce "library " or "librarian!" In every other way, it was excellent.

Cute. Saw a world I don't often think about.
This hook had me hooked from the beginning. Was going though a phase where nothing would engage me properly.
As a Australian living in NZ I enjoyed being transported back there for a time.

Real, funny and brilliantly articulated.
This book was an excellent read.
It touched on many aspects of getting old in a really dignified way. Aspects I hasn’t even thought about before.
Well researched and the delivery can not be faulted.

Great book with unexpected subject matter
The characters in this book were incredibly likeable and descriptions of them brought them to life. I enjoy it from start to finish. There are also a lot of topics covered that are newer conversations in society, and were well presented.
