Story
Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general—also known as her tough-as-talons mother—has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders. But when you’re smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away...because dragons don’t bond to “fragile” humans. They incinerate them.

Story
My whole world changed when I stepped inside the academy. Nothing is right about this place or the other students in it. Here I am, a mere mortal among gods...or monsters. I still can't decide which of these warring factions I belong to, if I belong at all. I only know the one thing that unites them is their hatred of me. Then there's Jaxon Vega. A vampire with deadly secrets who hasn't felt anything for a hundred years. But there's something about him that calls to me, something broken in him that somehow fits with what's broken in me. Which could spell death for us all.

Publisher's Summary
Enter the brutal and elite world of a war college for dragon riders from New York Times bestselling author Rebecca Yarros
With fewer dragons willing to bond than cadets, most would kill Violet to better their own chances of success. The rest would kill her just for being her mother’s daughter—like Xaden Riorson, the most powerful and ruthless wingleader in the Riders Quadrant.
She’ll need every edge her wits can give her just to see the next sunrise.
Yet, with every day that passes, the war outside grows more deadly, the kingdom's protective wards are failing, and the death toll continues to rise. Even worse, Violet begins to suspect leadership is hiding a terrible secret.
Friends, enemies, lovers. Everyone at Basgiath War College has an agenda—because once you enter, there are only two ways out: graduate or die.

good but could be better
look, i absolutely loved this because you get more background sounds than the normal version. but the way violet pronounces some things is very confusing.
i was reading along of my favourite parts of the book with this a few minutes ago, there were several lines that were different to my book. which that is very annoying.
i feel like the narrator for xaden doesn’t suit him tbh. i feel like it’s too much of a deep voice considering xaden is only like 23.
overall it’s good and im definitely going to finish this entire part. can’t wait for part 2. :)

Forth Wing by Rebecca Yarros
Wow! What fantastic book and well read too. I have not read this author’s books before so I had no expectations however I was hooked from the beginning. This book has thrilling suspense, romance, action and i love the unwavering character of Vi. She is adorable. Strong willed, stubborn as hell but sensitive and vulnerable too. I found myself holding my breath whilst telepathically willing Vi to over come every obstacle she faced including assassins. An absolutely thrilling read/listen (Audible). Thank you Rebecca! Love yr work.

Story is great
I prefer the original audio with out the dramatisation. The narrator in the simple version is fantastic and had a more mature voice than the lead in this version

Really got into it by the end!
Have to say I wasn’t sure about the graphic audio part as this was my first time listening to one. It took a while but I really did get into it. The story is great and fast paced. A little predictable in places but an easy listen and surprisingly gets under your skin.
Can’t help think it was written for TV but that’s ok as I’m sure it would make an epic series.

Holy Heck this surprised me, you need yo give it a go.
I used a token to listen to this version mostly out of curiosity and I like dragons I guess, kinda knowing I'm definitely not the "target audience". Mate, I bloody loved it. finished it in 3 days and I can't wait for part 2.
The books clever and funny, vicious and exciting and wildly interesting, This Author is seriously awesome. Such a cool world they've built. The cast performance is on point for the, not sure what they call it? Live action book? I was hooked!
Audible is mostly for my drive home from site, I listened to this title all weekend! Was a bit funny to listen to the protagonist describe the blokes she's into, bit different from my usual perspective haha. Holy hell I loved this Audible.

What a grand adventure!
Graphic Audio ✅ As always high quality work! you never disappoint. This has become my favourite way to consume books.
Grand Adventure ✅ This book takes you on a grand adventure. Felt this kind of thrill after a long time. Fantasy when done right transports you to a different world and oh boy! This book does a good job at that.
Hogwarts vibes ✅ If you love academy settings. Different houses, training arc, discovering potentials, politics, a touch of danger, brushes with death. This academy setting captures my imagination and excites me.
Main character ✅ The heroine is gritty and likabile. Her struggles make her real, you want to root for her!
Realistic ✅ It is a great feat for a fantasy! The author makes us feel the happenings in the novel are achievable. The main character has a realistic development and she doesn’t feel over powered.
Delicious love interest ✅ “ you look all frail and breakable, but you’re really a violent little thing aren’t you?”

Great listen!
Really enjoyed this book. It’s one of those ‘gotta find out what happens next’ I was so immersed in the story I couldn’t stop listening to it each night. Definitely one to listen to with the dramatised version.
